Crossbody sling · Retired kitesurf sail · Made in Goa
A single-strap sling with three zipped compartments, cut from one retired kite. The printed size markings and the sail-maker's graphics are left exactly where they fell, so the object still reads as what it was.

Materials
Previous life
This cloth spent its working life as a kite canopy: ripstop fabric built to hold its shape under load, in salt spray and full sun. Kites are retired when the canopy stretches or a seam gives out. The cloth itself is still strong, light and quick to dry, which is exactly what a bag wants.
Transformation
The kite is cut down and washed, then opened along its seams into flat panels. Panels are chosen for the graphics printed on them, re-cut to the pattern and sewn with the original zigzag stitching left visible. Each sling comes from a different section of a different kite, so no two carry the same markings.
